If you prefer a clean, factory-style front end, this Blue Ox setup gives you exactly that. The removable draw bars twist out of the receivers when you’re done towing, leaving nothing bulky sticking out past the bumper. Each receiver gets capped with a cover that keeps dirt and debris out and gives the front a tidy, finished look. With the brackets hidden, you can walk by without bruised shins or a cluttered appearance.
Getting ready to tow is simple with the twist-lock arms. Slide each arm into the receiver, rotate it until it locks in place, and secure it with the pin. When you’re done, pull the pin, turn the arm, and remove it. It’s straightforward and takes only seconds to go from driving to towing. If you use Roadmaster or Demco gear, adapters (RM-031/RM-031-5 or DM9523041, sold separately) make them compatible too. Integrated mounting points let you attach an electrical connector plug bracket without extra fabrication, keeping your wiring neat and protected up front.

This is our second tow vehicle. etrailer made it easy to shop for our 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport. We purchased a Blue OX base plate for our Mini Cooper previously and the videos make it easy to install. We use the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow bar and the Roadmaster BrakeMaster System w BrakeAway for RVs w Air or Air Over Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional. Can't wait to get the new Jeep set up.

This is our 3rd baseplate. The product is awesome. The installation is easy enough despite the horrible instructions. Also nothing on how or where to cut the metal pan for clearance to fit the baseplate on re-install.
First endeavor on 4 down towing a 2018 jeep Wrangler JL. Use to use tow dolly but couldn’t understand why we went that direction. This is a very stout piece of hardware. Installation took about 3 hours. Referred to etrailer’s installation video which was very well done. Only recommendation i would make is to specify that a 18mm DEEP socket is required to remove bumper. Very pleased with this purchase which arrived 3-4 days after placing order. No hesitation on using etrailer for all my RV towing needs. Great job etrailer!
Quality product. Solid, well built, perfect installation fitment. I installed this on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL and had no problems. Bumper and lower facia removal were easy (check out the online video...great instructions.) Base Plate installation was an easy, one-person job. (FYI I'm 72 and not in great shape, so if I say it was easy...it was easy!) Total time invested was about 2 hours.

Easy installation, aligns perfectly with factory holes. Actually had places for power and breakaway connectors on the bar. Looks great.
We decided to purchase the Blue Ox set up for our 2018 Wrangler JL. The set up works very well and has been easy to connect/disconnect, so far. The instructional installation video was EXCELLENT and definitely contributed to making the installation a breeze. Thanks again etrailer. Only alteration was to the brake away switch. It seemed to stick out too far in front of the bumper, for my liking, so I added a stainless nut/bolt and two nylon bushings so it could swivel out of harms way when not in use.
The product is flawless. I’m a skilled amateur and was able to install it on my own in several hours. The process is straightforward and a combination of printed instructions and YouTube videos was good enough to help me along. Package arrived on time. It had been dropped but the internal styrofoam and cardboard kept it all safe and protected.

Would Buy the Etrailer Model Next Time - Had to Clean the Weld out Deep in Hole for the Pin Quite Tedious
2026 Jeep Wrangler Install.
Base Plate BX1139 fit perfectly in my 2026 2-door Wrangler. I’m very happy with the result. I'm using it was a BX7380 Alpha 2 Tow Bar. A few comments on the installation instructions. On my 2026 the upper fascia between the bumper and the grill has more than 2 push pins, maybe 8. Get a push pin puller tool. I used a 1/2-inch Tungsten Carbide cylinder rotary burr file on a drill to enlarge the holes in the frame for the provided whiz nuts, much cleaner than a grinder or Dremel wheel blade. I used touch-up paint everywhere I damaged the frame paint. In step 2 only snug the first bolt, in step 5 you will need to squeeze the frame bracket between the new base plate and the frame. This was the only tricky step as the Loctite has been applied to the bolts at this point. Oddly this frame bracket is not in any etrailer video that I viewed! I don’t know if it’s new for 2026 but it was not a problem, everything fit nicely. Lastly in step 9, there is no need to cut a 1/2-inch wide slit in the air dam (Belly Plate), unless you are in a hurry (as installers are!) Just cut it slightly wider than the base plate. It may take a few trials to get it correct. The length of the slit was around 6.25 inches. I used a Dremel cutting wheel and a box cutter.

Just what I needed to flat tow my Jeep Wrangler. When I first received the base plate I was thinking about having it installed, but after watching the etrailer.com installation video I decided to do it myself. Couldn't have asked for a smoother install. The permanent base plate safety cables concerned me a little. I came up with a figure-8 over the frame that I think will work ok and I did secure it with some cable ties in a couple of spots.
Thanks to Nick at etrailer for the help and to the folks that made the installation video giving me the confidence to do-it-myself.

Great products from etrailer. The videos were very helpful as I was determined to do the install myself. I’m 72 years old and thought I could do it and I did with the help of my lovely assistant, my wife. The tip on running the taillight wiring through the frame rail was great. The one problem I had was that I was never able to unplug the taillights no matter how hard I tugged on them so I had my wife hold each light while I spliced in the diodes. Very happy with the Blue Ox products and the finished look on my Jeep. Thanks again etrailer.
Well designed and solidly built base plate. Very good product support from Etrailer and Blue Ox.
The four 1/2 inch by 1 3/4 inch bolts are category 5 bolts. I had a bag full of identically sized bolts which were category 8. But I did not have any whizz nuts that were category 8 nuts so I stayed with the standard Blue Ox Hardware. We used POR 15 rust preventing paint at every location where we cut the steel or drilled holes. The distance from the center of the attachment tab assembly holes to the ground is 20 inches on our 2025 Wrangler Rubicon JLU with "Xtreme" 35 inch tire package. Easy five stars for Blue Ox and etrailer.

Product review after a year of towing hasnt changed. Still happy and have not had any problems with the Blue Ox baseplate. I would purchase it again.
